Orly: Royal Navy

This is one of the new Orly shades, Royal Navy.  It's definitely more royal blue than navy.  This is 3 coats Orly Royal Navy with 2 coats Seche Vite.  Application was fairly good.  It was a little gloppy, but that could also have been since I was working near a fan.  It's been darned hot here lately.  Look close and you will see the wonderful teal shimmer in this lovely blue.  I have to say, I could not stop looking at my hands with this color on.  It's bright, but not crazy.  I love love love the shimmer and it's jelly!  Who doesn't love a blue jelly with shimmer?  If you like blues, I would definitely recommend this shade.

After a day of plain, I decided to go nautical and painted on an anchor with Orly Luxe on my ring fingers.  I was going to do a red and white stripe, but I didn't want to cover up too much of the gorgeous blue!  Hehe.  You can see the shimmer better in this shot too.  Absolutely LOVE this color!

Sally Hansen: Sea and Be Seen

This is one of the new Sally Hansen colors.  It came out with the Hidden Treasure greatness.  I loved this color in the bottle.  On... not so much.  This is 3 coats of Sally Hansen Sea and Be Seen with 2 coats Seche Vite.  It's fairly sheer and probably could have used a 4th coat, but I didn't think it was worth it.  Application was pretty good, I like the wide short brush.  In the bottle, there are flashes of green and purple along with the blue.  But on, I saw virtually none of that.  I looked at it in all kinds of different lighting and blah.  It's just a blah blue.  It's kind of on the icy side too, which is more wintery than summery.  I'm not sure if it was the icy quality or the tone itself, but I just did not like this color.  I only left it on a couple days, I couldn't stand it.  I think it would have been better with a base of an opaque blue, but even still, I didn't get all the pretty colors that I see in the bottle.  Anyone else have this issue?

Models Own: Lilac Dream

How awesome is this color?  I have to admit, I wasn't that exited about this shade when I saw it on swatches because it looked too pink.  But once I got it on, I love it!  It is on the pink side of lilac, but it's very flattering.  Some lilacs tend to look dusty and that makes your skin look pale, but this is vibrant and warm.  This is 2 coats Models Own Lilac Dream with Milani Hi-Res for the dots.  Topped with 2 coats Seche Vite.  Application was very smooth and easy, great coverage, no cuticle drag.  Very dreamy if I do say so myself.  And to top it all off, this pic is after 4 days of wear.  There's some tip wear, but no chipping.  Pretty darn good.  I will definitely go to this color again soon.

Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot...

I was feeling hot from some recent near 90 degree weather, so I busted out this hot magenta... oooo!  It's a score from a recent win.

Hotness.  This is 2 coats China Glaze Make an Entrance.  Then I added little swoops with Stripe Rite Black and Silver Glitter.  Topped with 2 coats of Seche Vite of course.  Application on the CG was awesome.  This has great coverage, but I can still see a tiny bit of VNL.  Not enough to irk me tho.  Very smooth and no cuticle drag or bald spots.  Love this color too!  Such an awesome hot magenta color.

This was a definite perk up from my recent Debbie Downer attitude.  I am trying my best to get through this.  I'm very grateful to have this nail polish distraction on myself and this wonderful little community!

First Flakies

I have not been lucky enough to get my hands on any of the Nfu-Oh flakie polishes.  Soooo... Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure is my first!  I had seen other photos of it, but man does it look even more awesome in person!

This is 2 coats Milani Fresh Teal (neon) with 1 coat Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure.  Topped with 2 coats Seche Vite.  First off, I love the opacity of the Milani.  It was a bit too streaky to get away with 1 coat, but 2 coats are perfection.  Application was a bit gloppy.  I think because the brush is very thin and it doesn't spread across my nail as easily.  But Seche evens all that out, so who cares.  The Hidden Treasure is just to die for!  How awesome are those flakies?  There is green, orange, pink, yellow, gold... so many colors going on.  I love it!  I see why you are all so nuts over the Nfu-Oh's flakies now.  I will have to get some.

For anyone who follows me on twitter... this is the mani a girl stopped me to talk about.  She stopped me on my way into a shop and asked what I was wearing like I was a celebrity!  Haha.  So I told her all about my mani and then she asked about my mascara and we were talking nails and makeup for a good 15-20 minutes.  Too funny.

Broadway Nails Review

I was at the drugstore looking at polish and normally go right past the fake nails.  However, these caught my eye!  At first, I was just going to take a pic and try to re-create it myself, but I figured, what the heck, I'll buy them.  They looked super cute.

These are Broadway Nails Fashion Diva Nail Kit in Harajuku Style.  They are a mismatch plaid in pink, orange and green neon!  How cool!  These are the "short" length which turns out is just about the same length as my own nails.  They have the little tabs for application.  I didn't use the glue that came with them, but it does come with a pink tinted glue.  I have to say, I love the look and I easily found nails that fit, which is the most important part.  I left them on for 5 days.  None of them were falling off, but the edges had started to come loose by the end.  Not sure if this is due to improper initial application, or if the nails were starting to go.  I haven't put on fake nails in years, and I've never done so on a consistent basis, so it's possible this was a user error.  They did show tip wear by the end, but none of them had chipped horribly and you couldn't tell unless you had my nail up to your eyes anyway.  I got them off by just soaking cotton in Acetone and placing it on the nail.  After a few minutes, the fake nail puffed up and slid right off.  (This is my normal process for taking off nail polish except I usually just use remover and not straight Acetone).  Overall, I was very pleased with these nails and would definitely get them again.  They come in various designs and lengths.  This would be a great alternative for a quick mani for a special occasion.

[These nails were purchased with my own money for my own personal use.]

Models Own: Peacock Green

I was soooooo excited for this color.  I saw a couple other bloggers post it and fell in love.  This was actually my whole purpose for my Models Own haul!

So pretty!  This is Models Own Peacock Green.  It looks really blue here, but it looks more teal in real life.  Such a gorgeous color.  It's shimmery and eye-catchingly beautiful!  I didn't even do any art, it didn't need it.  I did throw on a holo top coat after a day just because I had messed up a finger and didn't want to take it all off, haha.  I definitely love this shade.  Application was a bit rough on the first coat.  This is 3 coats topped with Seche Vite.  It all evened out in the end.
